Treks and expedition, is run by the Adhikari
family, a local Nepali family who were all born in a small village
called Astam, 20 kms from Pokhara, at the foot of the Annapurna
Range in the Himalayas, Nepal. |
|
Three brothers - Bishwo, Bednidhi and Purna
Adhikari - and their wives Goma,
Maliti and Kavita combine their friendly, unique
personalities, professional skills and local knowledge, creating a
warm environment and extensive services. All the speak English, having
had studied at the local university, yet wont hesitate at teaching you
a few Nepali words of interest! |

Their
parents still live in nearby Astam, continuing to run the family
Eco-farm and visiting Hotel
Marigold on occasion. Bishwo’s and
Bednidhi’s children live the best of both worlds, spending school
times in Pokhara, and holidays in the family home at Astam.
The brothers
began working in the tourist industry 20 years ago, working as
trekking porters and guides. They have been working together,
operating guesthouses in the Pokhara area, for the previous
11 years,
including a long stint at the French Cottage Guesthouse – a popular,
respected stop for many locals and foreign budget travellers. The
family’s inviting nature has resulted in a number of regulars, who
are now loyal clients. |
 |
|
In
2009, the family decided to expand their business to the nearby and
larger
Hotel Marigold.
Hotel Marigold also has a
variety of room styles, some with lake views, enabling the brothers to offer their
friendly service to a range of clientele, creating a space where a
variety of people mix and share their adventure. |
|
Pokhara’s peaceful surroundings are reflected by
the family’s relaxed and friendly approach, creating a “home away
from home” feel in a clean and comfortable setting.
The Adhikari family's commitment
to the environment has led the development of
Annapurna Eco-Villag,Astam. Cottage style rooms with
attached bath in an Eco-Village setting.
“Where hospitality comes naturally…”
